Jeanne-Marie Maher (RN, BSN) MD, FACP started her health care career as a Registered Nurse, later receiving her Bachelors from University of Pennsylvania. Curiosity subsequently led her to study Internal Medicine, at the University of Colorado, receiving several academic honors along the way including AOA (the medical honor society).

Former Faculty of Internal Medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine, in 2006, prompted by what was perceived as an educational weakness (lack of care for the seriously ill and dying) she studied Palliative Medicine at the National Institutes of Health. In 2008 a NH move led to the introduction of Palliative Medicine at two local hospitals, where she soon became Medical Director for her community home health and hospice agency. Currently she is working to place Palliative Medicine into the reach of Advanced Heart Failure patients at New England Heart Institute.

A member of Spiritual care for the past decade, she is also a graduate of the Authentic Presence: Contemplative End of Life Care Certificate Program and is honored to be able to teach the Cultivating Compassionate Presence program.
